A great memento isn’t just about the design; it’s about the finish. While the shape gives an award its character, the finishing process gives it soul and durability. For our MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) mementos, we use a specialized multi-step coating process to transform raw materials into a luxury award.
Why Wood Finishing Matters
Raw MDF is a versatile material, but without a professional finish, it lacks the “wow factor” needed for high-end recognition. Our finishing process ensures:
- Rich Color Depth: We apply deep, wood-grain stains that mimic the elegance of solid Mahogany or Teak.
- A Protective Shield: A high-quality clear lacquer is applied to protect the wood from moisture, dust, and fingerprints.
- Anti-Warping Properties: Proper sealing ensures your memento stays perfectly flat and stable for a lifetime.
Our Signature Finishing Techniques
To achieve the look seen in the Quill & Inkwell memento, we utilize three distinct layers:
- Sanding & Priming: Every edge is sanded to a silk-smooth texture before the first coat, ensuring the finish is even and professional.
- Contrast Coating: We use a matte black finish on the central plaque to make your gold-etched text or logos stand out with maximum visibility.
- Lustre Top-Coat: Finally, a semi-gloss top-coat is applied to the base, giving it a natural, sophisticated sheen that feels premium to the touch.
A Legacy That Lasts
When you hand a memento to an achiever, the smooth texture and weight of a well-finished piece communicate true value. Our wood finishing isn’t just for looks—it’s about creating a permanent legacy.
